Artist's Bio Linda was born in Ottawa. Her mother was from Rotterdam Holland, and her father Ottawa. They met while he was in the Armed Forces posted in Holland. Linda has one sister 3 years older who was the person that inspired Linda to paint. Linda has worked at the CBC producing - writing - scheduling etc. She was apart of the exciting variety department working on music specials with Anne Murray, George Fox, Michelle Wright, Bryan Adams etc. and the ongoing music series Video Hits. Singing, writing, painting and Linda's love of animals and people inspire her artistic talents.Linda Proctor was practising 'The Secret' long before she even knew what it was about. ASK-Believe-RECIEVE. She fell in love with a character that a Russian artist named Kako painted, and knew at that 'instant' that she wanted to invent her own character. She ASKED to be blessed with her own invention and 5 years later Rusty arrived. Linda was bike riding, pulled over, drew the first Rusty on a rock and rushed home to paint. "The sensation of creating Rusty was a powerful experience! A wave of complete enthusiasm came over me, and it was a KNOWING that THAT was what I had ASKED for, and it HAD ARRIVED! It was as if it was a GIFT to me, and now it was up to me to guide this cute little yellow dogs life". Linda became known as "Rusty's mother" . The first painting sold at an artshow, the 2nd Rusty painting is in Linda's possession to never be sold. Hundreds of Rusty paintings have been sold since then. "Rusty in the River, Rusty on the Run, Rusty in the Raw, Rusty in the Wetlands, Rusty Warhol etc. Themes began to be developed depending on Linda's life, and custom requests. Restaurants were decorated with Rusty; a business man decorated his entire plant with Rusty's; charities raised thousands of dollars with the character and then people began asking for 'custom' pet portraits but in that same Rusty innocent colourful feel. 2005 new characters arrived and a busier tapestry-like style of painting mysteriously began. What was bold became ruglike?! Madicat.. the multilegged cat/dog and Moe the Monkey joined Rusty. A complete transition happened, possibly subconsciously inspired by Toller Cranstons artwork.
